Yes, I've been framing the irate letter in MY head in response to this moron.
basically: TOO FUCKING GOD DAMNED BAD.
Frankly i couldn't care LESS who is "offended".
I am offended every fucking DAY by something... by my government spying on me, by people being killed in Iraq in my name for the sole purpose of putting money in the pockets of people who already control too much of our lives, by Ann Coulter attacking women whose husbands were killed on Sept 11, by the fact that they probably would not have been killed if the President and his evil minions had actually PAID ATTENTION to their own briefings, by the increasing evidence that these people weren;t legally elected OR re-elected, by the fact that with everything REALLY going on in the world and in the country - instead- today the congress debated flag "desecration"...
I could EASILY go on.
but guess what?
My being offended means NOTHING to anyone but me, and that is how it SHOULD be.
This is called freedom of speech. Enjoy it while you still have some of it.
It increasingly appears a limited time offer.
Finally:
I'm offended by the fact that 85% (being generous) of the "tips" in EQ magazine are either obvious or are nonsense... and yet some self-righteous asshole decides it's more important HOW JJ chooses to say something than whether his advice is actually WORTH something.
I miss having an audio magazine for actual professionals.

As for the respondant in EQ:

As for pro publications...
Do you remember when MIX was simply a sourcebook while RE/P was filled with useful technical information, and Studio Sound ran articles about things that concerned those of us in the 'hot seat'? Then in the early 1980s Penthouse began publishing a slick pro-sumer magazine called "Music and Sound Output" as an attempt to fill a "void" created by the popularity of the Tascam Portastudio...

Yes, indeed Chuck, I remember and MISS both R-E/P (especially its early naive days) and Studio Sound.
Both assumed their audience was comprised of working professionals.

hey, guys. thanks for the support. i'm at tapeop right now. in fact, i'm sitting in a seminar using my treo right now. I saw that letter 2 nights ago and was kinda shocked. my response to that guy is: jesus christ, dude. lighten the fuck up.

Some of us human beings have learned that part of being human means we all have our own failings and contradictions, therefore it's usually a good idea to mind our own fucking business and not cast stones, least we too be free of sin. God must be thrilled with your attitude. How do YOU feel when somebody assumes they know what you are feeling and decides to start doing your job for you? Good thing for us that God judges us himself, and not the people who claim to know His will.
BTW, too bad the author of the original hate mail isn't as offended by the ubiquitous use of L2, which caused me to say "Fer Christ's sake," in the first place. He missed the forest for the tree. Reminds me of how my mom didn't like the movie American Beauty, because she was so offened that they would show Kevin Spacey masturbating in the shower, during the first ten minutes. She concentrated on that and tuned out the next hour and fifty minutes and missed a great movie.

I think that's The Bottom Line. (yet another NYC joke)
Later on in my short life, I've come to appreciate OPINIONATED people. They have "colour" and bring energy and questions to life. Some are a drain, but most are easily ignored if you don't like their methods. I think letters in magazines can also be ingored, but one need not sit still and "take it" either!

Brian, I think the biggest offense I/we made in the case of the hate mail and Jarrod, is that they have literal interpretations of a certain book, which puts them in a position to be frequently offended.
