Hail all,
My PA system includes two Yamaha 2 way PA speakers, Two Subs, 3 amps, a few monitors, a power conditioner, and of course a mixing board. We currently have a DBX Driverack PA($500 unit) for which I am hoping some of you are familiar with. This item is currently owned by our ex-drummer who is willing to sell it to us.
Up to this point, I have very very little knowlege on using the Driverack PA. Our former drummer had only a bit more than I. The last bar gig we performed, we had alot of difficulty fighting the feedback and at practice today, I decided to pull the plugs and bypass the system because I was having multiple problems, as now I am basically alone with this devise.
Now I know I haven't put much effort into understanding this devise as of yet, but this morning I was so frustrated, I almost got on the internet and just bought a stand alone Crossover, in order to solve an immediate need.
Can anyone here vouch for the Driverack PA and think I should put some time into understanding it, or does anyone feel going with the simplicity of a stand alone crossover, is the way to go?
Thank you, Stack

I use a Driverack PA regularly. You have huge benefits over a standard crossover - Time Alignment, EQ, Comp/Limiter, Feedback Elimination, etc. Start on one of the 3 way presets and adjust it until it sounds right. Turn off the EQ and everything else while you're setting it.
Since there's not really a Live Sound forum here, you may want to post at a new forum that I just setup for my day job - you'd definitely get a reply tomorrow.
Here it is: Live Sound Forum .
