I'm not aware of anybody using PQ-3s in the recording studio, other than in their guitar rig, so I'm not sure I can even say that there is a replacement since it's not something you find in the first place in recording studios. If that is the sound you want for whatever reason, my suggestion is to find one on eBay. I think that most of us will tell you that our experience with recreations has left us desiring the real thing. If that's the one you want, that's the one to get.
