Hmmm, at home at my studio I don't have some other preamps at the moment exept the Joe Meek twin QCS which I don't think is good for vocals, but usually if I do some serious projects I end up mixing it in one highly professional local studio with all the real stuff like Manley and Tubetech outboard and other great boxes like fatso and distressor, local Pultec EQ and so on. If I mix there I usually send the vocal through all the best boxes and blend it with the original track.
Maybe in the future I can get one pre with more colour. But for now I think I will just grab one or two Amek CIB boxes. At least I'll get very nice EQ if nothing else for this money.
