Just wondered what people think of the RME Quadramic and Octamic pre's. Very clean? Compare to what? Are they the same pres as in the FireFace and are they worth anything for general tracking? This is just for my curiosity mostly, but I suppose that if they're good I'd consider grabbing a Quad for $300 for filler pres.

I have a Quadramic for the 4 analog inputs on a 002R and it works well. It does seem that I am always at one end of the gain knob or the other for some reason. I also prefer the sound I get from either my Digimax LT inputs (via lightpipe) or Lunatec V3, but I think that's more about the converters than the preamps (although in the Grace case, I think it's both). Better than the digi preamps, though.
