Lee Flier has one and apparently likes it a lot, based on what I've read in some of her posts. I BELIEVE she slightly prefers the E/V RE20 (my "first call" kick mic), but for those on a tighter budget, she recommends the 868. I have not personally tried it, so I can't comment about it directly, but if it's good enough for "the other half of the brain...."
I asked Phil about the D6 against the RE20, last summer. It was a close call, at the time. I put off th ekick mic. buy to sell the house and relocate. But, it is still on my backlog.

I dunno about "close call", but I do like the Audix D6, and if there was no such thing as a E/V RE20, the D6 would probably be my "close in" kick drum mic of choice.
