(Also posted in SSS)

Running OS 10.3.9, and although my Digi PTLE stuff was functioning fine, all of a sudden I started getting all kinds of spinning beachball/"application not responding" on both QuickTime (6.7) and iTunes (4.8).

After a little research (and almost going through the painful Mac process of reinstalling lower versions of QT and iTunes), I found someone experiencing my same problems with a nearly identical setup to mine, and recommended the Digi Core Audio 6.9 update.

Bang, zoom. All problems gone.

Just FYI.

The funny thing, Phil, is that this started happening before I'd upgraded to iTunes 4.8, so I knew it wasn't just an iTunes issue. QuickTime suddenly stopped responding after I'd installed a security update pack from Apple, so I assumed it had something to do with that.

But I hadn't changed anything in my Digi setup. Hard to say what the actual culprit was, but everything is back to happy land now.

Jeff, just to be clear, you're saying that the problem was solved by installing the Digi Core Audio 6.9 update?

If so, what version were you using prior to 6.9?

Thanks (and congratulations).

Best,

Geoff

That is precisely what I'm saying, Geoff Grace.

Rather embarrassingly, I do not know the answer to that question, Geoff Grace. I didn't check before updating.

However, if you want the update, here is the link to the Digi page , Geoff Grace.

Tradition dictates that you put Geoff in bold, but doesn't require the formality of the use of his last name. ;\)

Thanks Phil and Jeff Klopmeyer.

My problem is unfortunately happening with 6.9. I was hoping that there was an update for 6.9 (such as a 6.9.1, for example). No such luck for me; but I'm still happy for you, Jeff Klopmeyer.

(Yes Jeff Klopmeyer, what's with the last name stuff? I suspect silliness. ;\) )

In an hour or so, I'm going to try a workaround for my issue that was suggested to me over at the DUC. Wish me luck.

Best,

Geoff

Good luck Geoff! Please keep us posted.

Mr Jeff Klopmeyer, please report to the principal's office... we're missing a Brick, and we've heard you might know something about it. ;\)

No fair bringing up work at this juncture, Philip O'Keefe. \:\)

We'll chat tomorrow after my kid's Kindergarten graduation ceremony.

Thanks Phil. Unfortunately, the suggested workaround yielded the same results.

Fortunately, my current project requirements are running much more smoothly in Pro Tools LE than I had originally anticipated, so my computer's CoreAudio issues are moot for me right now. (In other words, I currently have no need to get Digital Performer, Logic Pro, or Cubase SX to see word clock from my Digi 002.) \:\)

Best,

Geoff
