Well, I was given a real detailed rundown on the SLAM! by Hutch when it was first shown, and I was very impressed with the sound of that box. It's a very cool bit o' kit. I have heard the SST-1 too, but I didn't get to spend much time with it, and I've never heard them side by side, so please take that into account, but the Manley definitely left a greater impression on me.

Neither one sucks. ;\)

I am working in one bigger studio occassionally where they have a lot of Manley stuff so I am convinced about their top quality. But they don't have the Slam it or Millennia either, but I beleive in what you are saying. I guess going with the Millenia would be a good decision also. I can't reach for the Slam price right now \:\)

The SLAM! digital option is truly astonishing. It gives 1" 2 track a serious run for the money. That's something to keep in mind.

If you shop around it's possible to find a reputable dealer with great references and great service who will sell the SLAM! w/digital option for hardly more than the SLAM! goes for some other places.

I had to sell a lot of gear to get the SLAM!, but well, well, worth it.
