...some of my faders are making noise when moved, specially the master fader. What can I do to solve this? Is there any special contact spray available or should I order new faders?
I have it since 1999 and I use it only for sending the sound from my computer cards to my monitors...
thanx, Purusha

Ideally, you'd probably want to replace the faders... but that's not a DIY job unless you're really good at working on electronics. You probably have dirty faders and you're getting problems from that... you can try some Caig DeoxIT, but I'd stay away from cheap contact cleaner products. And remember, a little goes a LONG way, so watch how much you use! Just a tiny squirt and then "excersize" the fader repeatedly, along its full range of movement. Have the board powered down and unplugged when you do it, and let it sit for a bit before powering it back up.

Thank you Phil.
I'll have to get the spray from USA because they don't have it in Europe or I'll find something good here.
I will open the board also to check if I am able to replace the faders myself. They are very cheap and I know a thing or two about electronics

Does anyone know a good product from Europe maybe?

Careful my friend, those Mackies are a pain to crack open.
I'd try cleaning them first, before considering replacing them... don't worry too much about the pots - they're sealed. The switches can be a problem area - I've heard crackly ones on the Mackie 8 buss boards before, but not really intermittent contact problems... but as long as you're in there, you might want to clean those too - especially if you've had any noise issues.
If you still have your Mackie manual, there's a couple of circuit mods listed in it... mostly to do with aux sends IIRC. Anyway, it's a simple mod - cutting a trace or jumpering - something like that. It's been a while.
Anyway, have fun (cracking that case really is a bear), and good luck. Let me know how it turns out please.

OK, thanks.
I'll order the Caig DeoxIT first.
