I'm going to be moving to a new home in the next month or two. I plan to set up my project studio right from the getgo in the new room. Layout, acoustic treatments, etc.... Now I haven't found a home yet, so I don't know what kind of room I'll be in yet. But what I do know is that I want to change my desk/gear layout regardless of the room.
I'm currntly using two Bush furniture desks in an L shape with a connecting corner piece. I've done a little modding under the hutch to fit 5 of my rack mounted devices. I have a free-standing rack mount that sits on top of the corner piece with my mixer and several other rack mounted items. The smaller side desk has a 61 key controller , some tabletop synths, stomp boxes, and other misc items.
It's not pretty and is sometimes cumbersome to work with this layout. I've been looking at some of the Omnirax desks and I have to say some are quite impressive and look to be perfect setup with the gear I have. The prices are quite scary though. I haven't found any similar items from any other manufacturers, so I'm looking for any opinions about this company and their products.
The price itself is not necessarily a no-go factor. I'm lucky enough to be making a considerable profit with the sale of my current home, but I don't want to just spend away when I can use this $$ elsewhere... (like real furniture to LIVE with and use in the everday, home upgrades, etc...)
I lack the necessary skills, tools, etc to attempt to build something too. So I welcome any suggestions, comments, etc....
I can't wait to move and get working on this. I look forward to the input and advice when it comes to building the studio.

I have this one: http://www.omnirax.com/site/show_product.asp?pid=55&cid=4, which is probably smaller than what you are looking for. IMHO a pro desk is well worth the money. They make good use of space and increase work flow.

A lot of this furniture is really expensive, but I seem to remember there being several ads for nice-looking furniture in some of the recording magazines. Maybe some of that would be good?
On just a quick Google search, I ran across this:
http://www.custom-consoles.com/
I'm using a combination of Ikea and Plummer furniture. Looks okay, but not really studio furniture.
