Hey,

I was wondering if there are any rules for ADAT Optical Cable Lengths. Do all the cables in the studio need to be the same length, or can they be different lengths?

Yup, Ken's absolutely correct. You can have a 3' cable connected on one port and a 20' connected to the other port (in and out) on the same ADAT equipped device, with no problems whatsoever.

However, like anything else, I recommend keeping all cabling as short as you reasonably can. IOW, don't run a 30' cable when a 10' will do the job.

Absolutely. And that can apply to just about any cable, digital or not.
