I know this has been discussed a lot but I still have questions...

does anyone know of a "apogee mini-me" quality product with firewire?

It doesn't have to be all-in-one, perhaps a package of firewire converters (ad-da), separate preamp, and mabye an RNC with the apogee quailty for the same or lower price? Maybe more than two channels?

And can anyone tell me why Apogee brought out the mini-me with USB? I mean, really, is there something about USB I don't know about that makes it better than firewire?

P.S. my research has me convinced that the Apogee has much better sonics than the pro-sumer firewire all in one boxes available ie. firestation, metric halo I/O, 002 ect.

The apogee is great sounding. What about the spdif or aes output? The usb is an option on it for more money and the Usb is limited for freq rate.

I'm going into a G4 laptop. The USB works but I could get more I/O using firewire.
