I'm not getting straight answers from various sample and loop companies.
I have the Kurzweil 2600XS sampling keyboard and Sonar 3. I'm new to both.
I've done extensive sequencing on the Ensoniq VFX SD1.
I'm transferring these sequences to Sonar primarily to replace the sounds with Kurzweil sounds.
But, I want to add guitar. So, I've been checking out a dozen or so companies that sell guitar sample and/or loop collections.
Some of them seem awesome, like the Hanz Zimmer Guitar Collections, but they're pricey.
My real question is, how much can loops be edited?
Bear in mind, I am used to playing the part. I simply choose the sound and then manually play the part.
With guitars, this presents two problems: One, if I play the part myself, I know where the changes are in the song. I know where riffs work, where strumming works, picking, etc.
Two, how can loops possibly be used to conform to a piece already written without extreme editing?
The thing I noticed about loops is that they offer strumming, picking, sliding and other guitar techniques that are damn near impossible to replicate on a keyboard.
Yeah, I know, get a guitar player. But that's not possible.
I know with samples, I can incorporate the sound at least, and forego nuances. Plus I don't have to drive myself insane with editing a 1-4 bar loop.
So, where can I get great guitar samples (the sounds) for either the Kurzweil 2600xs or Sonar 3?
I need a wide range, from the full country palette to rock/latin/r&b colors. Will the Hanz Zimmer collection work?
Songs have build ups, breaks, turns and twists, and so much more--as you all know. I just don't see how I can conform a loop to fit. And I have no interest in building a song out of a loop.
Thanx for your feedback.

There are 10 million guitarists out there. Go find one and have him record what you want. Most locals will do it for cheap (like $50-100) and on a for-hire basis.
