Is there software that's inexpensive & bare-bones? I just basically want to do simple stuff, such as specify spaces between songs, place Song Marker IDs in longer, continuous pieces of music (or songs that are crossfaded), and that's about it. I don't need compression, dithering, EQ, or anything else.
(Mac OS 9.1, 466 MHz, and I already have Pro Tools LE 5.1). Thanks!

Ken,
Wouldn't Roxio's Toast w/Jam do the trick for you? I think it's right around $150 or so. I think (not sure about this) that Jam lets you insert Song Markers.
Cheers, Mark

Cheers, Mark Yeah, I think this would do it. I just don't know anything about this, but keep getting asked if I can do stuff like this with other people's material. So I thought that something simple might do the trick. So is Jam pretty good and easy to use with OS 9.1? I noticed that it comes with Bias Peak, which I believe people like (didn't know that).

Thanks. At least I know where to start looking if this is indeed pretty good.

I've seen Sony's(formerly Sonic Foundry's) CD Architect for as low as 149 bucks. This program is HUGE. You can edit EVERYTHING that has to do with burning a disk.
The have it as a stand alone or it is included now in Vegas or Sound Forge.

I'll second the recommendation for Sony's Sound Forge - I've been using it for years and it's a great program. And if you need a bit more control in setting up your final CD, check out CD Architect too.
There's alos Steinberg's Wavelab, which a lot of people seem to like. I'm sorry, but I'm not as current on the latest Mac based CD authoring tools, but I'm sure you'll get some good suggestions from people who are.
