In Ethan's FAQ, he says the following:

"Another great and inexpensive way to make a bass trap - if you have a lot of room - is to place bales of rolled up fluffy fiberglass in the room corners. These bales are not expensive, and they can be stacked to fill very large spaces. Better still, they are commonly available and you don't even have to unpack them! Just leave the bales rolled up, laying on their flat side, and stuff them in and near the room corners wherever they'll fit. Stack them all the way up to the ceiling for the most absorption."

Has anyone tried this in their own studios? If so, how well did it work?

CIS,

I never tried it myself, but the person who first suggested it to me said it worked really well for him. And since I added to my FAQ and suggested it elsewhere around the 'net, many other people have reported it worked really well for them. And it certainly should work given the large amount of fiberglass in a bale!

Kool. What's the approximate diameter of one of these bales?

BTW, Ethan, thanks so much for your FAQ and all the other information you give away freely. I hope you realize what a great resource you've been to hundreds, if not thousands, of people.

Fellas,

When the 703 was delivered for my traps, I put it everywhere (I bought a bunch). I had four 2x2x4 foot bags stacked up centered between my Dunlavys. Sucked way too much out of the room. Not just bass.

Ahhh. I wonder if the situation you describe would also apply to the stacks of the fluffy fiberglass, then.
