I found someone in manchester nh who can get some 705 for me. However, according to him, 705 is 3 inches thick, not 4. If so, is 3 inches sufficient for a corner mounted bass trap? I apologize for my previous question regarding corner mounted bass traps (do they need to be floor to ceiling). The pictures on you realtraps web site answered that question. Thanks Ethan. Dan

At 1" thickness, 705 is superior to 703. At 2" and 3" thickness, 705 is equal to 703. At greater thicknesses, 703 is superior to 705.
Why spend the extra money for more material when it will do nothing for you acoustically?
When you do your search for material, remember that 703 is Owens-Corning's trade name for generic 48 kg/m^3 fiberglass insulation. Several manufacturers make equivalent product.
What is better on the low end is 64 kg/m^3 material. For whatever reason that I can't fathom, fiberglass is not made in that density. Mineral wool is. One trade name is Roxul.
Good luck!

Both 703 and 705 are available in thicknesses of 1, 2, 3, and 4 inches.

Sure, especially if you treat all of the regular corners and some or all of the cdšîng corners too.

My listening room (15 by 22 by 7'4") is also the family room, so, for aestetic reasons, I can not get carried away with this acoustic treatment business. If I can find the right color fabric, I should be able to install 3 corner mounted, 2 foot by 4 foot, 3 inch thick, 705 bass absorbers. I would also like to place 5 or 6, 2' by 4' absorbers around the room in the major reflection points. For aestetic reasons, I do not want to use 3 inch thick insulation in these areas. Should I use 1 inch or 2 inch or a combination of both? Paper in or paper out? Thank you so much for this forum Ethan. Dan
