We're playing an out door gig under a tent. We were supposed to get a platform, now they've taken it out of their budget.

How dangerous is it playing on the ground or on asphalt?

Asphalt I wouldn't worry (unless it starts raining) nor would I worry about bare ground unless its wet.
However, I'd not use any "cheater plugs" or ground lifts in a situation like that.

If ya have good equipment..and everything is properly grounded..you should have no issues.

We did the gig. We had a wooden platform and the job went well enough. It started to rain right after we broke down and got everything into our vans.
