We're going to be playing an outdoor show, under a tent and we were asked how big our stage floor should be.

There are two guitars, bass and drums with amplifiers and PA.

If anyone has had experience in renting or specifying a stage setup, could you give me a holler?

How big is your practice space? 20x16? 24x20? bigger? Drums usually need about 8x8. The rest depends upon you.... big keyboard rig? Massive double Marshall stacks? B-3? Tympani? ;\)

Does the PA have to be on the stage with you, or will it go on wings or on the sides of the stage?

Do you have a big monitor rig, or a small monitor rig?

If you're just using small combo amps and like that, and you don't need a lot of room to run around, you might be able to get away with 20x16. 24x16 is probably better.

Bill's on the money. Don't skimp on the depth, or your front person and your drummer will be on each other's nerves all night long. (I tend to continually underestimate this requirement.)

We can usually get by with a minimum of 16 by 12 and we have bass, lead keyboards, sax and a drummer, but I agree, a 20 by 16 or 24 by 20 is a lot nicer. I personally don't like really big stages, since it spreads out the band too much.

We played today on a theater type stage that was 26 by 24 and we had a ton of room left over. Of course, we always try to put the mains off stage whenever possible.

We're getting a 16 x 16. I guess that won't be so bad.

Thanks all
