hey all! I'm sure many of you post your bands info/songs/photos on myspace.com to help promote and get the word out to fans. It seems to be a great way for bands and fans to network. My band just signed up. Give us a look and listen, if you like us, add us as a friend and even comment if you'd like. I'll check yours as well.

This seems like the new hip thing to do but how do other people find you? I know it's kinda like a friendster thing but I'm still a bit confused. I know a lot of artists are using it now though.

It's actually easy to find bands by doing a search function. Myspace gets very detailed...it is perfect for cyberstalking. Bands can also search for groupies, and vice versa...

The other thing I notice is that most of the people on there actually know each other offline-about 90% of the people in my personal "friends" list are real friends.

In my band's profile, we have about 900 "fans" and around 2500 plays since we officially launched the myspace a few months ago.

The trick now is, turning those "fans" into real people at a gig. The word is out, following up is the key, I guess.

The amazing thing about Myspace.com, and Livejournal.com (which I've used for a year) is that both have spread out quite well without much media attention. They were both mentioned briefly in an article on the last issue of Newsweek. It's the one with the late Pope John Paul II on the cover.

I'm not sure if myspace is still independently run, but Livejournal was recently acquired by sixapart.com. Lots of folks I know from the LJ digs are listed on myspace (many of them being musicians, but some are just regular folks).

I may consider using myspace if I can hook up with a band soon enough, or get around to recording some decent demos.

You know what Dr. Taz you should use myspace to find a band. You never know.

We are just barely 2 weeks old at myspace. I am still trying to figure it all out. Anyone else? Stop by and see us and we will do the same for you.
