Thanx Al, 4 taking the time read the post. I have some q's about a few things but first a little info is needed. I turned 40 ...nuff said... I've made a living as a bar/club singer for 20+ years. Although I'm a real good one i have been a cover guy most of my money making years. Since i am a singer, I have had my own band/project my whole career, so i missed the opportunity to audition for big acts....thought i would be one... guess what? i'm not. I play guitar/piano/sax/flute well. this is not ego, just my age and realizing how i play, plus feedback from the live work i still do ( approx 150 shows/year )Well a couple of years ago i started building a project studio. First a sequencer ( cakewalk 4.0 DOS!!! no audio )Recently i aquired some digital stuff.. PTdigi001/Sound Forge4.5/Cakewalk9 ( plus an array of plugins ). In the last 2 1/2 years i have been writing like crazy ( 24/7 )so i can get out of these bars, use my experience and move into full time writing/producing. After recording 5 full CD's ( i have over 200 original pieces still to record )I'm at a crossroads. My goal is to be Dave Grusin/John Williams/Mike Post/Snuffy/etc. I want to work for and am qualified to work for a Disney/David Kelly/Speilberg/Lucas etc. You get the pic. I have never seen/heard any demos or have any info on how i can affectively reach these type of people. I'm too old to wait for responses from " unsolicited material " so how can i get to the core of that biz. Also, having so much music, production stuff would be cool too. I write anything pop/jazz/orchestral/latin/country...you name, it i seem to be able to write it on the spot. 200+ tunes in this time frame is alot. ( fav is Duke Ellington, am trying to amass a huge library before i go. ) Would you know how to reach these lofty people and what do they expect from me. i.e demo ( length and how many tunes..10 min/20tunes...10 min/3tunes..or some other length. ) I know you probably think i suck at this, but i fell through the cracks and could really use some help or advice. Just want to support my family as a musician the next 40 years. I'm sure there are others out here who are in a similar position. thanx Jason LeBlanc P.S. if you want some stuff to hear/record let me know... ......like you'll say, " sure send it right over " ....lol ( bs&t fan too...that is you, isn't it? )
