Dear Doc,
I am in a fix. I have composed childrens musicals for sometime now and have finally had a textbook company willing to use three of my musicals as an ancillary freebee to give to the teachers if the textbook is adopted and sold. They wish to put three plays in a trology along with the play (script) and music (CD). I am the writer of all the material and own all copyrights. They wish to license the work for this one ancillary product. They do not want a buy out. Each play is about 40 min in length and there is an average of 6 songs per play. They want me to come up with a figure as to what I want for the project. I will furnish all the material and they will edit and re-package it to fit the text book style. I am excited to have interest in my work but have no real clue to figure out what is an equitable price or what to charge. Can you help with any advice on how to charge for such a license?
Thanks
