from a business perspective, what does an indie band need to do to sell merchandise(cd's, stickers, shirts, etc)? is a business license needed? what about taxes?

The places you play in would be first in line to acquire a business license
To sell CDs oe shirts in a nightclub, I think you're safe. I would keep a P&L record for the IRS however. If the "business" doesn't file a return, I wonder whose return it should go on.......oh...of course
