Ann, Don't make one up. There is a standard one. Try http://www.bandradio.com in their info section or go to a search engine type in Music Attorney. There are a few Attorneys on the Net who will give you the info. free. I hope this works out for you & the cover is not something you will cringe at upon hearing it.May be you should ask for a sample of the singer's material before you agree.

Hi Phil - thanks for the info and the interest. I located a great site at http://www.songrights.com/ and have sent an email off to the attorney there. I came across a mechanical licence that wanted $19.95 to download it but since I am the one being approached for the use of my song, I don't feel it should be up to me to pay for the thing. I suppose I could ask the person asking to cover my song to do it. I'm off to look at the site you listed now.
