i'm about to do a press kit for myself *cuz i'm too broke to get someone else to make one for me*, but i need to know what kind of format is needed for the bio that is required. is it supposed to be just like a paragraph's worth plus what experience i have and my influences or is it more like a little fact sheet done in bullet style? my other question is when is a good time to find a music lawyer and where would i find a good one? =)

As I recall, your career is in it's comparative infancy. A press kit is helpful if there are quotes from the press in it, reviews, i.e. as many validatioons of your worth as can be collected in one place. If you haven't yet earned those laurels, then your desire to have such a kit is premature. Ditto for the lawyer. Is there some legal document or negotiations you need handled? Otherwise save your money until you absolutely need one of these pricey powerhouses. Your time early on is best spent in the trenches: playing gigs, recording and refining your art.

that's what i thought, but i wanted to make sure. i'm not a complete infant with music, that's why i'm trying to find a label. but as far as the lawyer goes, i had a feeling it was too soon. thanks man =)
