My songwriting partner and I have interest from a record company, but there's a problem. We both sing, each taking the lead, some duets, etc., but the record company wants us to change that, and have just one singer, which makes the prospect of getting a record deal bittersweet. (We've been working hard towards this for a long time). What should we do? Thanks

"To thine own self, be true" some guy declared, centuries ago... First off, if one company was interested, chances are, another will be. Secondly, if the favored singer thinks this deal should be grabbed, and doesn't see the "dumped" singers side, then these bastards have already inflicted a crack in your foundation. Aint life grand?

Thanks Docotor Al! Excellent answer. Life is, sometimes, ocassionally, at moments, grand, but we're learning quickly the shittiness of the music biz.
We're gonna attempt to remain true, and pass up these slimeballs.
It's good to know that there are people out there, like yourself, with the understanding that some people still want to get in the music biz because they like music, and not just money, or demographics, or all the other bullshit that ruins this biz, and takes all the fun out of it.
As Ed Sullivan would say, you're thoroughly alright.
