I find a metronome nigh on impossible to follow, for the only reason that the click click click just becomes inaudiable to me after a couple of minutes... Kind of like not hearing the clock in a living room until you actually think about it. I tend to tap my foot if I am practicing something anyway, and you can feel if you go out of time. The only real use I have found for being able to keep time to a tick, is for Online jamming where sticking to the metronome is important otherwise it all goes out of synch.
Practicing to a drum loop is much better for me. YMMV of course.
Cool on the Active Bass thing Phil. We'll have to give that a try.
Nice buy on the trem Geoff, I don't know what so many people have against Behringer. For buying on a budget I think some of the stuff is pretty good. It's not great, but does the job.
Nice lil jam you got going on there Don. Looks like fun, did everybody bring their own guitars along, or did you open the vault? :-)
Karen has this week off work, bloody picked the right one there... Looks like it will be sunshine all week, pretty much a rarity round these 'ere parts. But she is tasked with Gardening! lol So she has no "well I couldn't because it was raining" excuses to help her out! :-)
I'm getting Zendrive GAS. I need a modern OD to add to my board, but can't decide on whether to get the Zendrive1 or Zendrive2. Then again, I "need" a lot of things. :-)

Hey Trucks....Jeff and I brought electrics and a couple of small combo amps....but no one else had electrics!!!
Those acoustics were all supplied by others. I'd been told to bring an electic...so I never thought to bring an acoustic.
Next time, I'M ORGANIZING THE IRISH JAM!! LOL

LOL...Geoff!!
I actually had my Cornford Harlequin and my Anderson HDT out...with the amp plugged in and powered up, READY FOR ACTION. We'd borrowed a small PA from a neighboor, and had a mic set up.
That's when my 84 year old Dad said it was time to head home.
So close, yet so far........
I'll get 'em next time!!

Hmmm I was looking at those harlequins the other day. They look like really sweet little amps.
Well I made my mind up on the Zendrive, a Zendrive2 is en route.

Afternoon chaps.
I'm really sweating (not just the weather) about doing backing vocals again this weekend. How on earth am I a musician who can't sing a note? Disgraceful!

I'll strongly recommend Cornford amps!! I have that Harliquin, and also a Hurricane that I bought from Joe Satriani. Both rock as good as any british amp I've played. They sound like dark Marshalls....heavy cabinets, larger than the usual cab, all of which seems to accentuate the mids and bass response. They have a lovely growl!!

This is an S/S/H TORT pickguard.
I *love* the crunch of the DiMarzio Dual Sound, so I'm going to put it into the Frankenstrat - I'll have a 3 way mini-switch for Parallel/Single/Series, over and above all the other gubbins I have in there.
I'll put the PAF back in the Ibanez Studio.
The Frankenstrat may be the only guitar I'll ever need!!!

Weird start to the w/e.
Wednesday night I could feel myself coming down with a cold and Thursday I woke up with a full on asthma attack. My wife decided to call in an ambulance because it was peak hour out there and without the ambulance it could have taken us ages to get to the hospital.
Anyway, the ambulance arrives and it turns out that the paramedic was the same that looked after me when I had the bike accident. Remembered me and all. Small world, Wellington.
So off I go to the emergency room. I come out a couple of hours later, go home for a nap and wake up feeling just as ill as before.
Another bloody ambulance. Same emergency room, same shift even. Different paramedic, maybe it's not such as small place. No, no, there's the first paramedic there, too. Wave, friendly smile.
I eventually get sent to the ICU simply because that's the only free beds they have. Pain the arse, all these nurses asking me every five minutes if I'm ok, which means I have to take my headphones off to see what they want. Still, I guess that's what ICU is for.
They finally get some real ICU patients and I get put into a normal ward with my own bathroom and a niceish view. And best of all, nobody asks me how I am. I discover this great old DiamondDust bootleg (remember him?) Jaco Pastorius and Pat Metheny are playing, in 1976. Sounds like they're in front of about twenty people. Great concert though, I can finally understand why people like Jaco.
Anyway, I've finally gotten out of hospital. It's my wife's birthday and there's no way she was going to spend it hanging around a hospital.
I get home and there's an e-mail from the guitarist. He's found a really awesome drummer, but he lives way out in back of Woop Woop. Bit of a poisoned chalice, so near and yet so bloody far. maybe we can find a more central place to rehearse, assuming the guy really IS all that awesome (I'm a real tough audience) We're trying him out on Monday. Hope it all works out, I miss being in a band.

Morning Peeps!!!
Wonderful warm evening last night - we sat at the garden table till nearly midnight.
More of the same today. More friends & family tonight & more BBQ.
Need to re-organise garage & get on with the projects this week.

I know you can get plenty of fake gibsons on eBay. But has anybody heard of fake USA strats? I am watching a 62 re-issue hot rod on eBay. It is apparently only a few weeks old... It has the case candy... But the seller says that he sold the hard case because he didn't like tweed cases.. But that it comes with a fender gig bag.
That seems weird to me.. Would you buy a £1200 guitar, play for a few days, sell the hard case then put it on eBay?

Hummmmmm. Perhaps he thought he could get more money for them separate? Maybe someone put cash money in his hand for the tweed hsc and he couldn't resist? Maybe it's stolen, and he bought the gig bag to ship it in?
I'd check out his feedback carefully.

Morning folks! Overcast and cool in SF. Working on the backyard continues, as it is turning out to be my mother's day gift to Mary. We've never really finished planting the backyard properly, so I am giving the gift of a proper garden to my wife. It's my version of giving flowers on Mother's Day. We're also going to see "Iron Man" today. Both looking forward to it. Also planning a guitar makeover. My Agile Cool Cat, a large hollow body, needs some attention. Going to put some TV Jones pick ups in it, add a Bigsby, and dress it up with a new pickguard. Should be rockin'. Hope those who are celebrating Mother's Day today have a great one, and everyone else on this fine forum as well.
how did you like Iron Man? we went fri night. i loved it, i must say they did a great job. the suit was perfect.

Morning Peeps!!!
Great sunshine again!!!!
Putting the new S/S/H pickguard & the DiMarzio Dual Sound onto the Frankenstrat today, & the PAF back on the Ibanez Studio, although I may search for some original V2s to put it back to original.
