Cool, me and my bass player just listened to it. Nice Page. You rock. Some killer solos, not only you but your fiddle guy. I love the tones you guys got too.

Thanks for listening folks
It's really nice to get a little validation once in a while.
This thread is so cool because of all the talent, but most of all because there are no lame attitudes.

Here's an acoustic piece I've been working on over the years. I first started finger picking it about 1.5 years ago hence the title (it's my daughters name, who came along shortly after). It is still a very rough demo, I plan on re-recording it in the near future. Any feedback wellcome:
Isabel

Thanks both Darklava & Pauldil!!
I was hesitant to post it but I'm glad I did. I am working on more acoustic stuff that I will record (hopefully) later in the Spring/Summer. My acoustic is getting a long overdue workout as it's all I've been able to play since the lil' one was born last year.

My contribution, First four songs- me on lead guitar recorded live in studio.I edited out the vocals and patched guitar leads together to make them instrumentals, because the singer could not sing. The rest are my home recordings and some very interesting recordings of a 60s band called "The Young Enterprise" ps. The first 20 seconds of "Fallen"is not me,on guitar,ok?I hpoe you like it. http://www.soundclick.com/davemusselman

this is pretty cool Lee...my favorite What The? so far...dang you guys are really retro, not saying that's a bad thing just that it's what comes to mind when listening
Mellotron sounds great, cool guitar solo too
how'd you do that backwards effect, I know you're not running tape backwards
nice tune, thanks for sharing

Thanks for checking it out Steve! Yeah I thought ya might like the Mellotron. There's some E-Bow in there too, I like how you mostly can't tell which is which.
The backwards thing... yeah we were trying to simulate doing backwards reverb on tape. If I remember rightly, I took that drum fill, turned it backwards in a DAW, put reverb on it and printed the reverb, then turned the printed reverb back around and lined it up with the original drum track. I think it's actually easier to do it with tape.
Glad ya enjoyed it!

Something new we have been working on. This is called Brighter Than Light. Some have said it it reminiscent of Boston and Foreigner. I thought it was more of Dazed and Floridamusic hehe.

Alright, I caught up on my listening!
Tristan, I could only get these two tunes, the other two links didn't work. Wild Blues was a cool song, tho I didn't get the lyrics. Maybe if I spoke French. The rhythm guitar tone was very effective. The Not dead yet solo excerpt seemed over-the-top to me, but maybe in the context of the full tune it comes across different? Can you link the full tune?
FunkJazz: Your stuff is always top notch
Spiral Light: I'm of the "needs a melody" group with Isabel. I hear some leading lines, maybe you could accent some of those a little more. I don't think a separate melody line would be effective. I can't play like that at all unless I grow several more fingers, so I don't know what more I could suggest.
Lee: I like the different vocal parts on Nothing Left The contrast of voices moves the song along. The reverse reverb thing was so subtle - I read the other responses before I got to listen and was ready for Phil Collins, but I know you're more "vintage" than that
Dazed: I hear a Foreigner sound in your music. People compare my rock stuff to Boston a lot. I think on All Up To You, the acoustic guitar during the vocal is a little "peaky" and the high note jump over the vocal too much. These are well written pop songs.
Phig: Soundclick seems to be down at the moment, so I haven't been able to listen. Crap, my music is on Soundclick!

I was trying some different approaches to recording today with a small vintage jazz amp.
This is a short original piece that I originally posted a few months ago. I re-recorded it today using some different recording methods that I wanted to try out. Any comments on the sound/tone?

Thanks Paul.
The whole idea was to work with a very low gain structure. That's the neck pickup only on my new 7-string with the volume and tone rolled off a bit. The pickup is set quite far from the strings, so it's as though I've reduced the out put of the pickup down to a single coil range.
I'm running through a vintage Polytone Teeny Brute. It's a really simple solid state amp with about 60 watts running through a single 10. The tone controls are almost flat with the volume quite low so there's very little gain coming from either the guitar or the amp.
I'm running directly from the line-out on the amp to an Audio Buddy mic-pre and from there into a Tascam 788. The verb is coming from the Tascam in stereo.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll bear it in mind when it comes to re-record/rework this piece a little bit.
It was played on a Carvin Cobalt acoustic, regular tuning. Two signals: one miced via an ART preamp, the other from the on-board pickup via the tube setting of a pod pro. Mixed etc in Cubase SX.
