>>If you have the .wav file to start with maybe the answer is sending it to me via an e-mail attachment?<<

Sure. The mp3 comes from a master wav file. The wav file would
be huge.

Yep...I don't know if you can attach a .wav to an email, 'cause the file is so huge. Musicmatch.com has a .wav to .mp3 converter. It used to cost, but it may be free now.

Not sure about going from .wav to .mp3 and back to .wav. Seems like you'd lose even more...but the software is I think pretty basic.

We may need to give a deadline for submissions...so people with projects underway can wrap 'em up (myself included). Let's say by July 4th? Or later??? I'd think that may be more than enough time...what do y'all think?

Yeah the more I think about it. I know my ISP ain't gonna let me email
that big wav and have my doubts about an mp3 file. A burners somewhere
in the future maybe I'll catch the next one.

This sounds like fun-
Just about to start an internet file-based project. I doubt I`ll have anything solid by 7/4. Otherwise, it`s CD only and frankly, I`m not sure it`s my very best. It was intended as a demo. Gotta think about it.

William, I would be happy to download a song off your home page or mp3.com site and burn it as an audio cd. I could send it to guitplayer when I send mine in. If you're interested just let me know which song.

What wave editor do you use? Sound Forge allows you to choose to import MP3's and then save as ____. I tried saving a 2MB file as a .wav, and it became a 22MB file with audibly identical sound.

See if your wave editor supports this. Acid can do this too, I believe... Hmmm have to check it out.

Really KHAN. Wow What a wonderful gesture!!

Grab "As Long As You're With Me"
Other than an understated organ in the back of the mix, the
arrangements just three guitar tracks. No thrashing, nothing groundbreaking but just a very "countryfied" wall of guitars.

And please Mr KHAN, let me know the cost of the CD and postage
and I'll cover the cost of our submission. I insist!

Thanks and you have a most wonderful day.

William, I was able to download your song and burn it as an audio CD. I must say I enjoyed the tune. It had a very sincere vibe and the guitar playing was very tastful.
I appreciate your offer to pay for the submission, but the whole thing is going to cost under five bucks so don't worry about it.

KHAN

P.S. If anyone else has mp3's on the net, but cant burn cd's, let me know soon and I'll put them all on a disk and send them to guitplayer. The key word here is "SOON" so that I will have time to do it.

Guitplayer posted this back on the first page, it should answer your question...

>>>Anyone interested in sending mp3's or wav files to me can send them to my acousticvoodoo@yahoo.com address...

If you want to send a cd version instead, e-mail me and I'll send you my physical address. >>>

You are welcome William.

Just one more thing. If there is anyone out there that only has analog copies (cassette or hi-fi vhs) of their music, I can put that on CD for you as well. This would have to be very soon though to give me enough time. The people on this forum are very cool and I don't want the "low-tech" axe slingers to be left out. My e-mail address is in my profile. I just scanned the thread real quick. What's the deadline? I'll email you guitplayer. (thanks for dropping the link in Craig's forum.

Damn, guess I should be spending more time in this forum, eh? Seeing as how I am a guitar player. I guess there's more to life than Craig's forum.

Hey Ted,
The 4th of July huh? Sounds ideal for some bangs, explosions and celebrations, not to mention a bit of superlative drinking

Well now seeing as you asked..... We have the jolly old 'Trooping The Colour', the Queens official birthday you know, and of course, Bonfire night on November 5th, which is far more interesting, cos it marks the attempt by Guy Fawkes to blow up our houses of Parliament... and we get fireworks n hot potatoes too..... WOW!! Actually there's nothing here that it particularly patriotic unfortunately, but I'm gonna be in the USA, my spiritual home, on the 4th July so watch out my cousins I'm joining you all for the celebrations.... and the booze up!!

Thanks for the good response to the Tedster's Comp CD idea.

As a reminder for anyone who hasn't submitted...

We're compiling a cd of guitar forum members songs. If you have a "guitar" song on cd or mp3, I will consider it for inclusion.

So, If you want to participate...

Send a cd with the song you want me to consider... (plus a buck for the blank cd and return postage.)

Please limit submitted songs to less than 5 minutes...

I'm planning on closing submittals on the 4th of July weekend. I'll select the songs and post here who's on it. Then burn a copy and send it to you the following week.

For my address, e-mail me at acousticvoodoo@yahoo.com.

guitplayer

P.S. If you have an mp3 on the web, KHAN has graciously agreed to download and include your song with his tunes and send them to me. Please contact him for details.

Side bar: Did I tell you guys Rose soloed at the baccalaureate service? Blew us all away! I did'nt even get slobbery until I looked up and saw all the parents, teachers and kids blubberin'! The local Lions club popped her to do a clergy appreciation thang today after hearing her on Saturday. Haven't heard the reviews yet. She's learnin' the right way tho... no money, do it first cause ya mean it. Too cool.

Other side bar: I'll get something out soon!

Hey all,

Since no one has stepped up to the plate for the mp3 post site... I was surfing around on the Classified section of this site and there was a link that said...

Get your own free website...

So I signed up...

http://www.musicplayer2.com/websites/guitarplayers/guitplayer/

I hope to make this the mp3 "site" for our guitar exploits...

Now... I'm not a total html rookie, but I don't know how to write the code that will allow mp3's to be downloaded or even whether this "free" musicplayer.com website I get gives me enough server space to hold them...

Anyone know the answer to either question and want to help out? How about any graphics guru who wants to create some giffy images?

Hey Tedster
a quick appology...
I have tried and will continue to try to get something ready in time, but I am afraid I'm snowed under at the moment. Would it be ok to send something in right on the deadline, cos the project I am on will not finish until right at the end of June, if there are no hassles which I'm afraid I cannot guarantee....
Would a straight up accoustic song be ok if I don't get the chance to make it all out?

Thanks

Simon
