Her name is Sadie and she's 7 years old and she will be performing in her first piano recital tonight in front of about 100 people!
The best news is she loves playing and has a surprisingly good ear. She's going to do great and she's really excited about the whole thing.
Of course, I'm more excited than anybody!! She can learn about music on the piano and then I'll get her a Strat....
I'm just a proud Dad bragging on his little girl.

Congrats! That's an experience!
I've got a "proud parent" moment of my own tonight...my son Andrew is graduating from high school. He qualified for some nice scholarships, too!
Enjoy your daughter...she'll grow up so fast it'll make your head spin...
Damn. Now the Tedster is getting all sentimental...

That's awesome aframe!! I remember my first piano recital. I was six years old and ran screaming from the stage before I ever played a note. My subsequent recitals were an improvement.

Very, very cool ,
She'll catch the bug just from your excitement. Congrat's Dad,and as Tedster said E-N-J-O-Y every note of it, they're only ours for a while.
Tedster, Rose goes next year. I've had 5 years of kids on my team graduating, and that's hard enough. I wish you and Andrew a long and happy friendship, and you a hearty atta-boy!!! (Andrew too, but it won't mean as much to him until he's loved one from the first breath on)

My first recital was a big mess. Seems other parents didn't like that I was playing chords and so forth when their 6 year-olds were doing "Mary Had a Little Lamb". They also didn't like it that I closed the music that was in front of me and played from memory. A couple of fathers started harrassing the teacher after I played, right there in front of everybody, and it got pretty strange. Then, despite the fact that I was small for my age, the accusations that I was older then the others started, then.... I had to leave with my parents; as if it was their *fault* that I didn't have to read the music, and that it was *my* fault by not playing within the "rules" that the rest did.
That probably has a LOT to do with my present day dismay with figures of authority and pedantic adherance of "standard procedure". So remember aframe, to *you* it's just a recital, but to her it could be the making of a misfit....
