I play a strat through a reissue TS9 for some basic light over driven sounds. Then, for lead tone, I'll add a Danelectro Daddy-o overdrive to it set at a fatter, more overdriven setting. It's worked pretty well for me so far, but tonight I was playing with this setup and I heard that the signal would sometimes cut out a little. Not all the way off, but just down from where it was and then jump back up. It would also give me a popping sound out of my amp when I'd dig into the strings while playing.

What's the deal? Have I fried one of these pedals by sending a hot signal into it? I thought doubling pedals was okay to do, but maybe I was wrong. Anybody else have this problem?

its hit and miss w/ me-i've tried lotsa pedals used together o'er the years and there are impedance mismatches, level mismatches, all kind of things-you really just have to 'speriment-some pedals are like oil&water and others are like bees&honey.imho

What is your amplifier? I have seen some solid state amps cut out due to overheating. I think its a safety thing where it knows when to cut out.

I play an all tube amp reissue Bassman with two overdrive pedals without any problems although I only use both at the same time for leads that require lots of sustain. I use the Klon for fattening the sound and a Hotcakes for overdrive. I have a varity of other pedals but leave them home when its time to gig.

I have a Carvin Bel Air 50 watt combo. But I also play through a small Boogie combo sometimes. Both are all tube and it's happened with both of them. I don't think it's a power issue either because I use a dunlop juice pedal power supply, so everything's regulated (i think).

Maybe you should have someone look at your amp. I've seen lots of guitarists use two overdrive pedals without problems so I can't guess what it is. In my opinion Boogies have lots of gain already.

Check your cables. Try the same setup with different cables. Still happening?

Well, when I play with these two pedals stacked with the Boogie, I'm using the clean channel. On the Carvin, I like to use the gain channel, but I turn the gain down and the volume up to let the pedals push the tubes. Both amps seem to have the power to handle the pedals.
Both pedals are powered by a dunlop juice power supply, so batteries isn't the problem.
I don't think the cables are it. I jiggled them in the inputs and nothing happened. It only happens when these pedals are stacked. I also have a mxr micro amp that I use to boost he ts9 for lower gain solos with more volume. I've heard that tweaking out a little too.

Battery going dead in the Danelectro I bet.
