well there is a whole world of instro music out there and a lot of it is covered in which has its feet firmly planted in surf music in all its tangents but there are some bands who do some very deep and gutsy music,the main one i'm familiar w/ is from sfbay area
'the mermen'. this is the most brilliantly composed instro music i have ever heard-just guitar,bass and drums but the magnitude of their sound is undeniable.imho
