I never understood why people even bother dealing with it...48--->44.1 and 96--->44.1...?
If you are doing 24 bit...then the differences between 48 and 44.1 are NOT going to be noticed by ANYONE!
And, if you do go for a higher rate, then why not just record at 88.2 instead of 96? Because again, the differences between 96 and 88.2 will also NOT be noticed ny ANYONE... ...and 88.2--->44.1 is a simple division calculation:
88.2/2=44.1
When I track to the DAW or transfer to it from tape...I've been using 88.2. Yeah...it chews up double the HD space, but I can fit quite a few songs on my two internal SCSI drives...plus, I just ordered a 160GB USB LaCie external drive to give me even more storage room for those songs that are on "standby". Anything else...gets archived to DVD.
