I found this interesting test result posted on another board. It compares sample-rate converters in various DAW software packages.

These comparisons are important if you do any 48 to 44.1 conversions or 96 to 44.1 conversions.

Of course, Bias Peak Pro wins hands-down. They probably wouldn't have published it otherwise.

Any comments?

I believe that R8Brain beats most options, and it is free.

I never understood why people even bother dealing with it...48--->44.1 and 96--->44.1...?

If you are doing 24 bit...then the differences between 48 and 44.1 are NOT going to be noticed by ANYONE! \:\)

And, if you do go for a higher rate, then why not just record at 88.2 instead of 96?
Because again, the differences between 96 and 88.2 will also NOT be noticed ny ANYONE...
...and 88.2--->44.1 is a simple division calculation:

88.2/2=44.1

When I track to the DAW or transfer to it from tape...I've been using 88.2.
Yeah...it chews up double the HD space, but I can fit quite a few songs on my two internal SCSI drives...plus, I just ordered a 160GB USB LaCie external drive to give me even more storage room for those songs that are on "standby".
Anything else...gets archived to DVD.
