i'm looking for a recommendation,
for a good reasonable repair shop.
i'm in washington d.c. for a while,
but plan to be in new york in mid-october.

i have two d10s that need repair.
in both the caution light flashes when
i try to play a tape, new or old.
both machines have been sitting aound for a while.
twirling the spindles doesn't help.

any help would be appreciated.
thanks in advance.

Try contacting this shop:

http://www.njfactoryservice.com/

in NJ. About 20 minutes from mid-town by car. The do a lot of authorized work; Sony I don't know, but if not, they can certainly hook you up. Avoid places listed by Sony. $275 just to look at it!

Good luck, Paul

In DC, contact Bob Williams at Protech (next door to Chuck Levin's) 301-929-2490....around the corner from Bob is Washington Professional Systems if Bob can't get to it....Chief tech at WPS is Geoff Emrick 301-942-6800. WPS will be more expensive, most likely.

I don't think that you'll have any luck, but if you do, let me know. I also have a pair of portable Sony DAT machines that need some work. They're at the studio, and I don't remember the number off the top of my head, but I think they are 10s.
