Welcome to the net, David, glad to see you here.

Question. I noticed when going to burn an audio CD in Toast, that in addition to allowing me to choose Sound Designer II formatted audio files on my disk, Toast also allowed the selection of AIFF files. Does this mean if I choose "Audio CD" as the type of disk I'm burning, and yet use AIFF files, the CD will play normally in all players? Thanks...

Yes, I believe that you can use either AIFF or SDII files or both in the same Session. With Toast 4.1, you can use MP3 files as well.
You are correct in that you have to choose "Audio CD" as the disc type to burn in order for the disc to play in any CD Player.

One other tip regarding Toast; If you put an audio CD in your Mac internal CD-ROM Drive and choose the 2x option for burning, then you can burn a one-to-one copy of the audio CD without having to copy it to your HD first (choosing a faster write speed with this method will usually cause errors in the disc burning process).

i could be wrong with the new release of toast but it is NOT redbook even in the audio cd mode. i have not had good luck with toast for that. taking a disc image is one thing but burning individual files is another. i use jam which writes the PQ codes, toast doesnt [or didnt]. i have had burned toast cds that play in 80% of players while jam plays in all cd players. i do use toast for audio extraction and image capturing.

ps: there is no difference in SDII AIFF or WAV files, all of which can be imported into Jam/Toast.
