Dear All
For my project studio I am considering:
Genelec 8050A or Dynaudio BM15A.

In the same price range can I find 5.1 surround speaker sets that are reasonably good?

If yes, please suggest as many options as u like and give links, if possible.

Thanks in advance

in the same performance (slightly less$$) range

I highly suggest NHT or BlueSky
* I use both in differing situations

http://www.nhtpro.com

http://www.abluesky.com

even though I have access to large scale PCM and Dynaudio systems.... i still use my NHT MOO's with dual BlueSky 12" subs and a BlueSky bass manager/monitor controller for my daily sound design/editing jobs.

- then Move to the large scale systems for final Film/Music Mix... if needed

have done hundreds of projects with these...

just my 2¢

I apologize for posting this here as it is a 2.1 question. The equipment I'm interested in is in this thread so I thought this the optimal place, though probably not the best.

Ron, or anyone,

I'm looking at setting up a moo system for my endless hours of editing and paperwork on the computer(I'm a still photographer shooting digital). Don't need a reciever or 5.1 surround so this looks like a simple 2.1 solution. It's is for playback only. I listened to and likes the moos. The sub is light for my tastes. Unfortunatly, I can't listen to the Blue Sky as the only dealer hear here in Utah only stocks the mediadesk. My listening levels are modest and my hearing is good.

Running a m-audio revolution 5.1 soundcard at 24bit thru winamp. I'd rather not use the mixer in the souncard in the event I move to an external DAC. Most of the affordable ones in "audiophile" land are 2 channel rca output. I'm looking at $1200 as a budget for monitors and sub.

So I have a few questions:

Do I need a Hi pass filter in this type of system? I listened to a pair of NHT classic twos with NHT's 10" sub at my local dealer and the sub had the presence I wanted with room to spare. No Hipass filter tho. I like the passive volume goodie controlling the system. Keeps things simple and the desk clear. I would need a different volume control to feed the sub and the moos as I don't have 2 sets of outputs with this unit.

Is the 80 hz hipass on the blue sky 12" a good match with the moos? The hipass with the soo sub is 120 hz. The Blue Sky looks good on paper, but I don't like buying stuff I haven't heard. This looks to be the cleanest solution and very nice pricewise if it works.

I've been away from audio equip for a while and even then, it was home HiFi, not studio stuff. So sorry if these are noob questions.

Thanks

S
