ProTools surround support?

Can anyone tell me if the 001 will support surround sound?

It has enough outputs but what about the software? i have heard 'LE' does not, but can i run a different version?

In general what do i need to get protools surround?

To my knowledge LE Systems will not support surround sound mixing. A local Pro Tools Rep told me you need a full blown TDM system to get into surround. Accel cards, etc. $10,000 plus. I was going to buy a Pro Tools system for surround, but then I got a quote on a proper system and it was out of my price range for a project studio. I opted for a Cubase SX 3.0 setup with a G5 and lots of RAM, probably upgrade to Nuendo in the near future for more Surround integration. Anyway, hopefully this helps.
