I ran out of standard cables. Any inconvenience in conecting my surround monitors with Mogami AES cables?

....Assuming you are connecting a balanced line level analogue signal that normally takes a standard XLR, I can't see any big downside except that you are wasting the investment.

The "other way" (i.e.- using standard mic cables for connecting AES signals) would, of course, have a pretty big downside with potential for digital ringing, etc.....but I know of no problem using an impedance-controlled cable for connecting a standard LoZ/balanced signal.

It's overkill but some folks actually, as they can afford it, run AES?EBU throughout, as a hedge for future hook ups.

Hi Mudsmith,

Thing is that I still have a Mogami 8 pair snake for an AES conection that never happened here in my studio. So as it's around with no use at all so far, I can't say taht I'm exactly wasting it.
But as you pointed out there's no big problem in doing it. Off course the other way would be another story..
