Hi,

I´ve made a stereo mix. To compare I put some DVDs to play and noticed that the LFE was active in all: L, R and LFE. But my mix (still in computer and in Motu 24 I/O), just played L and R. What I have to do to activate LFE or is this a work for the DVD authoring? I´m using Nuendo 2.0

Thanks.

This sounds as if there is some form of Bass Management active.
If you are playing on a sub/satellite type speaker system, then the LFE is working as your main bass speaker.

What Audio format is your check DVD using?

There should be no need to use the LFE channel in a music mix, whether 2-channel or 5-channel. All main channels are already full-range in both frequency and dynamic response.

And as Neil asks, is this sound from the actual LFE channel, or just the subwoofer being used to extend the range of the main speakers (using Bass Managment)?

Ok Neil,

I´m using a common DVD disc. I understood. There no need to put a special channel to LFE, right?

Doug, I think the sound from the sub is exactly to extend the range of the main speakers.

Thanks for everything.

If you're working in Stereo, then you certainly do not need to put anything to an LFE.
