Question about adding/saving a guitar track to mp3's - 01/03/13 05:19 PM

I purchased a Fender Mustang i amp. I was hoping that the USB port would allow me record and save my guitar track with some of the mp3 music I have saved on my hard drive.

I have Fender Fuse installed. Is this possible? Or do I need more software or hardware.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

My Mustang Floor instructions say that you can run your USB port to your computer and then use your favorite recording software...so I'm guessing you'll need a software progam...

I found mixcraft to be pretty good - I think it's $75 or you can get audacity free = good way to get started.

Sorry, don't have a Mustang to reference, but from what the Fender site says, it seems that FUSE is for editing patches in the Mustang series - there's no indication that's it's for recording audio tracks. If you have a recent Mac, you should already have Garageband included.

Recording over pre-recorded tracks may present a different set of problems. You might have to fly them out to yet another device, so you can mix the pre-recorded material with your own playing.

Audacity is freeware... At least on Ubuntu... Works pretty darn good for free!

I am trying Audacity to get started. Lots of features for a freebie. Still am having troubles getting Audacity to find the amp.

Will on the "afraid to buy a tube amp" thread just bought a used Mustang III and mentioned the software program (which didn't come with the used amp) that is recommended as "Ableton"...hopefully he can give you more info on the software (I couldn't remember the name of it until he mentioned it on the other thread) but you can google on it and there is a forum etc, for FAQ's...hope this helps...

I am finally finding everything I should need to make this work.
It appears to need amplitude fender Le and ableton. And I will officially say.. WHAT A PAIN IN THE ARSE! I do know computers and this is the biggest run around of downloads I have seen.

Did you download the software or did it come on discs with the amp?

If it's an ASIO driver, it should just show up as a source in any recording application that supports ASIO...
