Song/lyric list software

Song/lyric list software - 11/19/12 10:55 AM

Hi,

Years ago here (I think, on the keyboard forum) there was a PC based software which kept track of songs, set lists, lyrics and chords. I didn't need it then, but these days I've been jamming with a bunch of people in a folkie-living room situation and such software would be really helpful so that everyone else could follow along. Anyone remember that software, or are you aware of something similar, besides my making up a template in Office?

Crap...I remember but I don't recall what it was. Let me dig though and see if I can find anything.

Great to see you again, Bill!

Hmmmm...Not finding it, Bill. I did find this, although it's possibly much more than you need:

Am using Band in a Box for jazz-pop standards and to create backing tracks. PG Music also sells fake-book CD files for various styles.

Or just google & print each song you want plus top 100 song-lists.

I usually rehearse for auditions etc using uTube to get whatever version classic-rock tune is required when I work by ear.

Has anyone tried this software? Does it work well? I hate to download stuff and find out it sucks!

.......and welcome back, Bill! Great your around.

I saw a guy at a jam the other week using an IPad on a custom stand above his keyboard & it had the set-list & when the title of the song was touched, it displayed the words - might even have been scrolling, but I didn't get to see that bit.

Since i'm not an IPad person(!) I've no idea if he was just using something he'd lashed together or if there is an app for this. Looked jolly useful whetever it was.

I've recently converted from reading scores on paper to an iPad for my Kronos mixing gig. We have PDFs of all the scores, which I then mark cue points & add mix instructions using a graphics program. The iBooks app is used as the reader, making page turns with a finger swipe. Cool.

Hi Bill.... I don't know if this will work for you. http://masterwriter.com/mwtourfinal.html

I have v1.0 and it's pretty cool. It has an audio section as well where you can lay down the rhythm bed and the vocals to remember what you are writing.

I don't know if this is kind of what you are looking for but hope it helps. I know it's a writing tool but I also love how it saves your songs, so in essence it's like your own catalogue.

That software changed a bit... I remember the beta from many years ago. Pretty cool, and not too pricy. I'll work with the one that I was searching for originally, but this is certainly an option if that one doesn't work out.

Thanks,

Bill
