my small studio has released its first CD, celtic material by a flute and harp duo - "walking tune" by rosewynde. we have it at the local borders books, included in amazon.com, and a few specialty shops, and it has made a few hundred dollars on mp3.com, but we would like to find a marketing and distributing agent. how do we find the right distributor? in this day and age, what are the most productive ways for independents to market their music?

One way is to send your CD out to as many entertainement/music managers as possible...if one likes you, they'll pick you up and shop your CD to distributors and labels. It's tough to get good distribution unless you're signed to a label, though. You could set up a web site for people to hear samples from your album, and be able to order it online direct. Then advertise it everywhere yourself.
