The sad thing about all this is; is that this should be like our superbowl, but most of us are so unimpressed or disillusioned by the whole thing that we just ignore it. What does that say about our industry? What does that say about us?
What it says to me is that the larger part f the industry holds little or no interest for me.

Most of what I do musically has next to nothing to do with that whole world.

I infrequently attend shows that cost more than $7, and I can't remember the last time I bought a CD released by a major label.

At one point in my life, I'd watch these shows for the music... nowadays I don't even give a crap about that. I'm sick of the way these shows are packaged. I can't muster any enthusiasm for them anymore.

I listened to the broadcast on radio because of some freezing rain and slow traffic that kept me on the road longer than I thought. All I wanted to see was Zep; well, John Paul Jones at least. I was extremely disappointed to hear the pathetically short nod they were given. I mean, don't the Oscars or one of those awards give several minutes to their lifetime achievement winners? I turned off the radio after that and like many of you I may never tune in again.

I got a chance to see some of the show tonight thanks to my girlfriend. She Tivo'd it, and I got to see some of it tonight. There was plenty of good and bad to go around. As much as I love the Beatles, the *all-star* rendition of "Across The Universe" was a horror show. OMG, I was so embarassed for the people with real talent who were up on that stage at that moment. Brian Wilson, God bless him, seemed like a deer in the headlights. Weiland was positively awful. For crap's sake, when you can say that Billie Joe Armstrong of Green Day probably offered up the best/most appropriate vocal, you know that doing this was a bad idea.
