Here's the songs we're gonna attempt on this gig (BlackRoots Unlimited is our group):
1. Lovers Rock - Sade
2. Sweetest Taboo - Sade
3. If you were her tonight - Alexander O'Neal
4. Gotta get u home - Eugene Wilde
5. So amazing - Luther Vandross
6. Diary - Alicia Keys
7. All Woman - Lisa Stansfield
8. Waiting in vain - Bob Marley
9. A Woman's Touch
10. Last night
11. Lovers Rock dance
Songs 9-11 are from our album 'Dark Chocolate'.

Fingers crossed, it'll be alright!
One Love

I don't know if that is the order the songs are going in, but I wouldn't bunch all the originals together.
Break a leg, and spread the love (it is a Valentine's Day gig and all).

I agree with 73 P Bass, you may want to mix an original per three covers or something. But make sure the flow is smooth \:\)

That aside, good luck and let us know how it went !!

I don't know; IMHO, no Valentine's Day set is complete without "Love Stinks" by J. Geils and "Walk All Over You" by AC/DC.

There is something to be said for grouping originals fellas. It's kind of a "here's what we really do" sort of thing. I like it.

Hard to find sexier music than Sade.

Do you guys know "By Your Side"? We used to kill 'em with that one. From the Lovers Rock CD.

Good to see someone covering Alexander O'Neal.

Though Matt makes a good point, I also vote for spreading out the originals.

Thank you for those valuable points. We'l spread out the originals (as is the consensus so far ;\) ).
I'm realy hoping it goes well. The guitarist is a quiet, unassuming but superb soul, funk and Jazz guitarist (A RARITY over here I assure you).
He's got originals too so hopefully, we'll put his album together. \:\)

My gear tomorrow...Yamaha BB604, an old antique Ranger amp (or was it a Trace Elliot ;\) ) with a 15" bass cab (subwoofer).

Incidentally, this Ranger amp used to belond to African grand master the late Franco TP OK Jazz Band!!! \:D He's the equivalent of say Ray Charles or Elvis over there.

"If my spirit moves you, let my body groove you"

Probably the best line in history, and it's from a song that would fit perectly in your set.

Yes, but then it would be better to do it mid-set and not at the end. In my ever so humble opinion, of course \:D

Thanx all. The gig went well. \:\) However, I've decided to play 90% originals for my next gig. Our originals got alot more reaction from the crowd, which gave me confidence!
Anyone else had a gig yesterday?

Yeah man. I am one person who gets 'startled' when I listen to the classics, causing me to 'hid' my originals so to speak! \:\(
We played the covers well but I was encouraged by the reception to the originals. I am already writing for the next project. ;\)
Again, thank you all for the support.
