I'm thinking about buying one. I did a search and seen that a couple of people were using them and I was wondering what their impressions have been. Is it worth the money? or should I look at the SWR 210c or the Ampeg BA 210sp?

I have never played through one but the 96.5 lbs. weight would keep me from considering the combo. However, the BAM head is only 47 lbs.

If you play a 5 string, or want it loud, be careful of 2X10 combo's. I had an SWR Super Redhead and loved it...except when I played on my B string. The cab tended to "fart out" then. I was sad, 'cause I love SWR. I've tried the 210C at th estore, but not at live, loud levels.

I've gone back to a SWR 4X10, SWR Grand Prix Pre Amp, and a QSC PLX 1602.

Well, from the responses that I have received so far, can I assume that most people would rather have a Head/Cab configuration? or if I decide to go with a combo should it be 1X15?

I would rather have a head-cab configuration.

Right now I have an SWR Super Redhead. It's a really nice combo -- really nice. Sounds great. It's not as portable as a head and a nice 2x10 cab would be. It handles the low B string OK, but not as well as I'd like.

2x10 combos are fine. Play the ones you're thinking about, if you can. One of those might really work for you. 1x15 combos can also be very nice. A 1x15 might give you more depth and handle the lows better than a 2x10, but a 2x10 may give you more punch. These are generalizations, and there's always variation.

Peace.

Will - you might want to check out the new line of Mesa Boogie combos that are hitting the stores... 300 watt tube combo... They make a 12" and 15" version both available in 4 or 8 ohm congfigurations.
