People - this is an honest to God email I got today which I just have to share. The names are changed to protect the guilty.

What's amazing is this is about the 5th time in as many years that people have seriously proposed to me after being in the vicinity of my studio: 'hey I've got a great idea! Lets use YOUR stuff to achieve MY plan'..! It must be a cultural difference..

And here was my helpful reply. I know silence was the best option but couldn't help imparting some helpful advice..

*****************
Hi Slappe - if you guys want to make a 'professional' studio why don't you get a bank loan & start one yourself? I'm sure some of the big banks like ING would finance it.

Here's where you can find stuff:

http://Www.vintageking.com
http://Www.vintagecity.de

Me - I will keep storing stuff in my shack & make the occasional hobby recording, cuz I just like to collect gear but I don't really use it.

Good luck - there's probably a big market for bands wanting to pay lots of $ for a vintage studio around *****!

Anybody knows what "slappe lul" means?

Man - this wake up call is too loud to ignore, something strange is afoot, I am clearly surrounded by strange people

If you will recall my recent post about the initiative to renovate the studio space by eliminating the control room bunker w all my stuff..

weird ...

Love the life!

Music - no turning back

And so on..

Here is the reply I got & as I suspected - it didn't really register....I gotta get out of this place \:\) ..
I hope someone will get a laff out of this:

I think there's a misunderstanding here: by professional I mean in a
qualitative way: with good stuf, making good recordings. Not: to earn
money (which will be shitty business in case of having a studio).

It's not about the money.

I find it tasteless to post private emails online - but I feel I must share this, one of the most stoopid interactions I've had in a while..my reply, enjoy..:

Hi Slappe Lul - I think the misunderstanding is on your side, I don't know what people have been telling you, but but the situation is as such, my studio situation is a fully functioning private production suite where I work pretty much every day. My productions can compete technically with other professionally recorded productions on the market & see international release in the USA, Europe, Japan etc to critical acclaim. My latest CD production contains some top vocal stars like Mykal Rose (Grammy award winner), Luciano etc and landed in the CMJ top 20 World music charts for college radio play in the USA.

So, to be clear - I have no interest in your above proposal.

If you want to build a 'vintage' studio - instead of calculating how my equipment can be put to work to achieve your plan , why don't you get a bank loan and do it yourself?

Good luck - I hope my gear contacts are helpful!
