seju
I've been doing some recording of drums on pro tool's digi 001. Although i'm always trying to get the most natural sound of the kit, i gotta realize that there are other people who are paying me for my recording services which don't care about that awesome big ass led zep drum sound. Sometimes they want their drum sound to be very tiny, muffled, techno, comercial...you name it! I got this AWESOME plugin called SoundReplacer which is nothing but a drum trigger (well, of course you can trigger other sounds). Ex; say the sound you're gettin of your recorded bass drum isn't that good, so then you can use sound replacer to fix that, by replacing or mixing the original sound with another one (actually you can even mix up to 3 different sounds)! I've been desperately looking for high quality drum samples on the internet(snare, bass, toms) to use with SoundReplacer. Does anyone of you guys in this forum have any drum sample you wanna share????? thanks
-_dup1
I don't use drum samples anymore, but a pretty good place to find stuff on the net is here: http://www.samplenet.co.uk/ Unfortunately, they appear to be closed right now (the site says they're being "reorganized")... When/if it opens back up, you should find a lot of good stuff there.
Felix_dup1
There's also a subscription-based sample site here: www.sonomic.com And you can always go to: www.soundsonline.com

soapbox
For natural drum sounds, I've gotten a lot of mileage from the following libraries: Bob Clearmountain Drum Samples 1 Bob Clearmountain Drum Samples 2 Bob Clearmountain Percussion & Bass Guitar Ross Garfield - The Drum Doctor Does Drums 1 Ross Garfield - The Drum Doctor Does Drums 2 All of the CDs above were released in the mid-1990s, so they are 16 bits only. However, Bob Clearmountain's qualifications are undisputed, and Ross Garfield is number one for supplying and tuning drums in the LA studio scene. Both libraries include drums sampled at a variety of dynamic levels. Garfield's CDs give a choice of close mic'd and room samples as well. Both libraries would be excellent for use with Sound Replacer, IMHO. Best, Geoff Enthusiasm powers the world. eightyeightkeys
I've got the LM4 and the Wizoo Acoustic, Electronic, and Power drums and they are uniformly excellent. I read that Wizoo also has a web site where you can purchase individual samples and then download them. Also, there was a site called drumology which had some really great electronic, house, hip hop etc... drum sounds but I couldn't access that site any longer. Too bad. If anybody knows where the site has moved to I'd appreciate it. eightyeightkeys

Kendrix
I have some of the Clearmountain samples they are good - but the very best by far to me is a Steve Gadd sample library. Its in audio format (not akai or whatever) - so you have to do a little work to loea the samples and get a functioning preset together. But these are the most natural, organic sounding drum samples I've come across. Plus i do get a buzz knowing that Clapton, S. Dan... and I share Gadd as our drummer.
