Mellotron for Android I can"t say anything about the android version, but I"m quite familiar with the iOS version. This app was created by the 'official' Mellotron company in, I think, Sweden. Markus Resch runs the company and builds the digital M4000D and it"s siblings, as well as modern tape-based Trons. While the hardware he produces is considered exceptional, this particular app is actually kind of terrible. The user interface isn"t very well laid out, the selection of sounds is pathetic, and the so-called XL upgrade brings it to the point of barely being on par with a lot of other cheap apps. I have no idea what else is out there in this realm for Android, but for iOS, literally every other app with Tron sounds on the App Store beats this one. That includes a fair number of apps that aren"t actual emulators, but just have some Tron samples in them. AnotherScott Posted April 10, 2021 Share Posted April 10, 2021 Also, it says "This instrument supports Core Midi, Audiobus output (Audiobus 2 & 3) and midi input (Audiobus 3 only)." -- None of those things exist in Android, which makes me think that the Android version can only be played from the screen, and cannot be played from a MIDI keyboard. Baldwin Funster Posted April 10, 2021 Author Share Posted April 10, 2021 It seems that a couple of years as go there were 2 or 3 good mellotron apps including 1 from Streetly. I'm guessing the last android upgrade wasn't compatible. Android upgrades seem to have a habit of not supporting old apps. Quote FunMachine.
