RABid
I can find plenty of videos on YouTube covering various rudiments but they don"t explain best practice methods. Am I better off practicing one rudiment for 10 minutes or 10 rudiments for 1 minute each? What is a good schedule for someone learning rudiments? Quote This post edited for speling. wraub
I've always heard anything between 10 and 30 minutes, depending on other factors like specific objectives and available time to play. I usually do them while watching tv, so I may do some only a few times and some for much longer. Quote I'm a lot more like I am now than I was when I got here. Harryone
When I was using rudiments I would do one then right into another and so on. When done start over. I would do this for 20 minutes or so.
Brian McConnon
When I was teaching, I had good results with grouping rudiments, beats or techniques that were complimentary to practice in blocks. This way, you don't get bored with one over and over, but have a little variety while working on a group of similar things. Then add the next group that builds on that, then another, then another... May ways to slice this pie.
