MAJUSCULE
Though it may not "fix" the streaming model, it seems like a positive change for independent artists. The transition will happen April 1. It'll be interesting to see if this influences any other changes in payout structures for their competitors. Song80s
been on SC for 4 years and I think its a decent platform for the song writer, young producer. I have 125,000 listeners. To get into the millions, one has to heavily promote. And pay for it. Its not like Benjamins falling out of the sky. I am not caught up in scratching for income, fortunately. I will be watching for the details on how they structure comp. Many listeners might be used to having a free ride for several years. I support what SC is planning. Anderton
Almost three years ago, I predicted that artists would start their own blockchain-based currencies. It took longer than I expected, but NFT (Non-Fungible Tokens) based on blockchain rights management is exploding. Look at what 3lau and others are doing. It does have a bit of a fad/tulip mania vibe at the moment, but it will settle down into something real. It's one of the first ways I've seen for digital artists to get compensated, using a different model from things like Bandcamp, Patreon, or benevolent companies dishing out a piece of the profits. Watch this space. MAJUSCULE
Yeah, I just saw Adam Deitch (drummer from Lettuce) post about NFTs the other day. Within a couple hours, I saw an article shared by someone else, as well as Billy Martin (from MMW) post some artwork for NFT sale. I know a few musicians locally who are in the crypto game to varying degrees. Interesting times. Quote Eric Website Gear page
