Active Bass into PA?

Recommended Posts

Don't hate me. I'm a live sound noob.

I've been asked to join a non-gigging, rehearsal room-only band. Which is fine by me as I don't particularly want to play in front of an audience, but I would like to play with other people.

I'm extremely short of funds at the moment and I was wondering if I could plug my active bass directly into the rehearsal room's PA. I don't have an amp or a DI box, and I can't justify the outlay for either of those items at present.

I have a ten-year-old Sandberg Basic four-string.

Thanks.

Start with the mixer level on your channel at zero and bring it up slowly, if the electronic buzz is unbearable above 2.5, you may need a DI. Some mixers have a button to hit to accept the impedance of a bass our one of those skinny string things.
If you think my playing is bad, you should hear me sing!
